Ivan Parga

Director

Born and raised in Long Beach, California, Ivan A. Parga-Renteria has pursued a career in Music as a Composer, Guitarist, Instructor, and Educator.


Mr. Parga has composed for the award-winning CSU Fullerton New Music Ensemble in collaboration with the CSU Fullerton Department of Theater and Dance in the production, Within Reach, and has composed for the award-winning film, Off The Menu.  In addition, he has composed various works for guitar such as published work, Fantasia y Baile for solo guitar. He currently is in pursuit of his master’s degree in CSU Fullerton and is expected to graduate in 2025. In addition, he has worked on projects as arranger such as a piano reduction of Florence Price's Abraham Lincoln Walks At Night for Chorus America and a transcription/arrangement of "Holding Back The Years" by Simply Red for the Pacific Chorale in their program, "To The Hands."  


He is also serves as Music Director and Music Teacher at St. Bonaventure Catholic School, where he teaches choir, instrumental studies, music technology, music composition, and music theory, focusing on the performance, understanding, and creation of music.


In college, he began his studies in Classical Guitar Performance at Long Beach City College in 2017, under the instruction of Dr. Ken Nagatani, as well as Music Composition under the instruction of Roger Przytulski, conductor/composer, and currently attends CSU Fullerton as a Composition Major who has completed his Bachelor’s degree, and has studied guitar with Martha Masters, President of the Guitar Foundation of America, with composers, Dr. Geoffrey Munger, Dr. Ken Walicki, Dr. Pamela Madsen, Dr. Eric Dries, and Aiyana Braun.


He has an extensive background in Music, having performed as a guitar soloist alongside the Long Beach City College Symphony Orchestra in 2019, and the Long Beach City College Dance Department in the same year.
